About two-and-a-half years ago I met a dog named Blue. He was wearing an E-collar, was skeletal, covered in ticks and could not have been more excited to make my acquaintance. Blue found me at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. He had been on, what I can only imagine from what I know about him now, a harrowing adventure from the mean streets of Albuquerque to confinement at the Humane Society in Boulder. I had been through a difficult year of grieving for the loss of my dog.
I greeted Blue by putting my hands in his mouth, his ears, and in between his toes. He responded by knocking me over while trying to lick my face through an E-collar. It was love at first site for both of us. I brought him to our forever home that Sunday morning.
Blue is now Pretty Boy Floyd, or just Floyd to his many friends. He has found his self and it is as the benevolent dictator of the healthy treat division of In Clover. In Clover is an animal health care company that I founded in 1996. Floyd has a corner office for contemplation and naps. He also rules over a nirvana-like packaging area with a glass door that has a a view of the neighbor horses and where treats drop from heaven. He is shown in the picture above in the front yard of the In Clover office on break with Ayla and Maile, two other In Clover dogs. Stay tuned for more stories of Floyd’s transformation and I would love to hear your stories of how you were found by that special pet.
